“That blow to the head is the last act of a night of torture.” The lifeless body analyzed by medical examiners speaks and recounts “an escalation of violence”: there is not only the fatal blow to the head, but something “incomprehensible to the human soul”: the little one “has bruises on his face, trunk and lower limbs, there are different fractures, there are bites all made that night, cigarette burns, there are 51 different injuries, 51 blows separated from each other and then that head fracture, incompatible with a fall, with which they wanted to cause death “. With these words, the Milan prosecutor Giovanna Cavalleri asked for a life sentence with daytime solitary confinement for nine months for Aliza Hrusic, the 26-year-old of Croatian origins in a cell for the murder of her two-year-old son who died on the night of 22 May 2019 in Milan. In the long indictment, the representative of the public prosecution reconstructs a family atmosphere in which the wife is “completely subject to her husband and his family”, cannot call because he has removed her cell phone, cannot escape because she is a recluse at home, and is useless to scream because no neighbor seems to hear his requests for help. On the night of May 21, however, according to the testimony of the couple, the 26-year-old wakes the little one, takes him to the living room and when she wakes up “I hear the sound of fists as if he hits something, the child was in the living room, he was dirty. He punched him in the back, hit him with kicks, I said hit me and not my baby. He wasn’t breathing anymore, I gave him breathing but nothing “. In prison for voluntary homicide, torture and aggravated ill-treatment, in front of the judges, he tried to shake off the responsibilities for a crime aggravated by having used “torture” and by having acted “with cruelty towards the child, for trivial reasons consisting in the fact that the little one, left without a diaper, got dirty “. But with those words made before the court, for the prosecutor, “he lies a lot, he cannot deny the undeniable but seeks justifications he says I beat him slowly, he was delicate. Where he can add details he does so in a mendacious way and tries to involve the wife, the civil party, to whom the competition cannot be attributed “. There are three charges against Aliza Hrusic: in addition to the aggravated murder, she must answer for ill-treatment and torture, also for having burned the baby’s feet (about 48 hours before death). Crimes committed with “gratuitous cruelty, with a violence that finds no justification”. If the murder could cost him a life sentence, for the other two satellite offenses the required sentence is a total of ten years. The sentence is expected on 25 May.
