In the UK, no deaths from Covid have been recorded in the past 24 hours. It is the first time this has happened since March 2020. The latest data also report 3,165 new infections, compared to 3,383 on Monday and 2,493 a week ago. The total number of fatalities among people who tested positive in the 28 days prior to death is 127,782 deaths. The latest figures come while a debate is underway in the UK on whether to lift, as planned, all restrictive measures starting from 21 June. Experts are concerned about the onset of the Indian variant and the risk that the unvaccinated and those who have not yet completed the vaccination course could face. To date, 65,211,877 doci of the vaccine have been administered in the UK, of which 39,477,158 first doses and 25,734,719 second doses.
