The police showed new cars: 400 chargers will be built! Vehicles already have a yellow-blue design – Topky.sk

To charge electric cars, 130 charging stations with over 400 chargers will be created for the needs of the police. On Monday, the state secretary of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic Tomáš Oparty and police chief Štefan Hamran informed about this. “The police fleet is in a catastrophic condition, unfortunately, it has been neglected for many years. We have almost 5,000 vehicles and 55 percent of them have driven more than 150,000 kilometers,” Hamran said. He considers the new yellow-blue design to be a significant shift. He pointed to better visibility, and thus greater vehicle safety. All “stickered” cars are supposed to go to basic formations. Due to the high costs and wear and tear, old cars will not be covered. At the same time, the police chief highlighted that among the procured vehicles are also SUVs, which, according to him, have advantages for the course of the service, especially in basic units. This is, for example, a higher cabin, better visibility on the road even at night, a larger capacity of the luggage compartment or the ability to handle worse terrain. Public procurement for the charging stations themselves is in the evaluation phase. “In total, there will be 130 connection points throughout the Slovak Republic and more than 400 charging stations,” he added. Chargers for electric cars will be paid for from the renewal plan, the estimated cost is 2.2 million euros. The first cars should arrive next year. The Department of the Interior is also negotiating with the Ministry of Finance on the further renewal of its vehicle fleet from the state budget. According to the state secretary, the negotiations are in the final phase. Hamran claims that in the event of an agreement, all “painted” police cars could be renewed within five years.
