The police fire would have been “totally simultaneous”, explains the lawyer, supporting his theory of self-defense, “the three people, in different positions, all three felt the danger of the maneuver of the car and the urgency to react”. He estimates that eight to nine cartridges were fired at the time. The police, aged between 25 and 30, “are not known for acts of violence”. He admits that his friend “moved forward a bit” instead of stopping, but said he was shocked by the shots in “the girl’s head”. The young woman died of her injuries on Sunday. During the day, the police officers were placed in police custody and the Paris prosecutor’s office opened two investigations, one targeting them and the second concerning the driver.
