PEZINOK. He waited for the hearing on a bench with his head bowed, playing with his fingers on his hands and stamping his feet nervously.

Former police officer Adrián Szabó, as the nominee of the Direction from August 2018 to June 2021, headed the Office of the Inspection Service of the Ministry of the Interior, whose task is to investigate police crimes.

However, the inspection system, to which more and more people from the security forces have admitted since last year, was not noticed by the inspection under Szab’s leadership.

Instead, Szabó himself now came to the Specialized Criminal Court to publicly admit that he was taking bribes and taking information from investigations to the police.

The prosecutor agreed with Szabó on a three-year sentence with a suspended sentence of five years and a fine of 25,000 euros. The agreement also includes a seven-year ban on holding public office and forfeiture of bribes.

“I humbly ask the court to approve such an agreement,” Szabó said in court in a low voice.

Judge of the Specialized Criminal Court Ružena Sabová first wanted to formally reclassify the act at the hearing for the concurrence of two criminal offenses of providing information and accepting a bribe.

“A total sentence of imprisonment shall be imposed. I have no objection to the amount of the sentence, “said Judge Sabová.
