The new head of the medical chamber called on Slovaks to be vaccinated against covid – PRAVDA.sk

The newly elected president of the Slovak Medical Chamber (SLK) Pavel Oravec called on Saturday at a press conference all people living in Slovakia to be vaccinated against COVID-19. He described it as a “very important tool in the fight against the pandemic”.

The doctors said in a joint statement that they wanted to remain opinion-forming authorities. At the same time, they reserved themselves against misinformation in connection with the pandemic. Citizens were urged to follow the instructions of experts in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease, which claimed more than 12,000 lives in Slovakia in a short time.

The new head of the SLK called on physicians to follow current recommendations reflecting the results of documented scientific knowledge. He also called on politicians to “gain political points in other areas”. He also pointed out the responsibility of the media.

The Chamber also wants to take action against those doctors who have an opinion incompatible with ethics. It also wants to increase the competencies of doctors in SLK. The priority of the new boss will also be compulsory membership in the chamber.

SLK Vice President Jaroslav Šimo added that the Chamber wants to help the Ministry of Health (MH) of the Slovak Republic with health care reform. He claims that the chamber has enough capacity for that.
