Soldier killed in Mali: the poignant testimony of his brothers in arms – Franceinfo

On September 27, in Gao (Mali), the brothers in arms of Master Corporal Maxime Blasco, killed on September 24 in action in Mali, paid him a final tribute. Master Corporal Maxime Blasco escaped death on June 14, 2019 during an anti-terrorist operation with extremely violent fighting. He was in his sniper position when the Gazelle helicopter was hit by enemy fire. A helicopter had landed to rescue the wounded but only two places were available. By a heroic act, Maxime Blasco had saved the lives of two comrades in arms, injured in the spine. “What he did was really phenomenal”, relates Captain Paco of the 5th combat helicopter regiment in Pau who was present on the scene.
