GERAARDSBERGEN – The winner of the 17th annual cycling race around the Benelux was the Italian Sonny Colbrelli from Team Bahrain Victorious.

The final 7th stage, which led from Namur to Geraardsbergen and measured 177.9 km, was best managed by his Slovenian colleague Matej Mohorič, who successfully escaped the pursuers. Colbrelli came to the finish in second place. The best of the Slovaks, Peter Sagan from Bora-Hansgrohe, finished tenth on Sunday with a 24-second gap to the winner.

In Flanders, eleven races took the lead on Sunday. However, the number and composition of the group in the leak were mixed with slight inclines. Fifty kilometers before the finish, a quartet of Mohorič, Kasper Asgreen (Deceuninck – Quick-Step), Brandon McNulty (Team UAE Emirates) and Victor Campenaerts (Team Qhubeka ASSOS) were at the top with a twenty-second lead.

On the ascent to Muur van Geraardsbergen, the peloton coped with the escape and Mohorič, who was alone with a lead, fought ahead with only a lead. The Slovenian escaped with all his might from the pursuers, including Sagan and Bosberg, repulsed all attacks and maintained the lead until the finish.
