Prešov transport attacked rescuers during the transport, one broke his finger – PRAVDA.sk

Slovak rescuers are increasingly encountering aggression against them or the operators of the 155 emergency line.

Alcohol, drugs, mental disorders, but also fear, are the trigger for such behavior on the part of people. This was stated for TASR by Alena Krčová, a spokeswoman for the Operational Center for the Emergency Medical Service of the Slovak Republic. He also reacts to a recent case from Prešov, where a 25-year-old man physically attacked one of the paramedics while being transported to the hospital for examination.

“Recently, we have witnessed more and more aggression, which is aimed not only at rescuers, but also at the operators of the emergency line 155. While operators sometimes hear insults and threats, rescuers also face physical attacks. Such behavior is incomprehensible and unacceptable, “said Krčová.

She reminded that rescuers are exposed to pressure, time pressure and stress to help patients who are at risk of health and life. According to her, their work is extremely demanding. “In no case do they deserve to be hurt instead of thanking them,” Krčová emphasized.

A young man from Prešov is facing charges of injury to health after physically assaulting one of the paramedics in an ambulance on Saturday night during a transport by ambulance service to a hospital for examination. When the ambulance stopped in front of the emergency room, the man began kicking his feet and striking his ambulance devices and equipment for no reason, kicking the rescuer’s hand and breaking his finger.
