French justice sources confirmed to AFP that Bouteyre committed the crimes between 2012 and 2015, when Ferrova was between 15 and 18 years old. According to the prosecutor’s office, the former coach of the elite tennis player Alize Cornet was accused of two violations of the law: the rape of a minor and the sexual assault of a minor over 15 years old. Last week, she also appeared in the qualifiers for the Grand Slam US Open, in which she failed. Bouteyere was her personal coach early in her career and traveled with her to all tournaments. The coach’s lawyer stated that in this case it was a love affair and there was no coercion. “It is too serious a topic for me to address during the tournament. It affects me a lot and maybe that’s one of the reasons why I don’t sleep at night. I am sending Fiona huge support,” Cornet told her compatriot from a distance. Ferrová herself announced on Instagram on Friday that she never consented to sexual contact with Bouteyer, that she believes in the justice system and that she will no longer comment on this topic.
