The country has since tightened entry conditions for people vaccinated against Covid-19. With the two-dose vaccine, entry into the country is possible only after further confirmation of infectivity after the second vaccination, so far people have been able to enter on the 22nd day after the first dose.

This follows from the updated regulation on the conditions of entry into Austria at the time of the pandemic.

New rules for entering the country

Those who have not yet received the second vaccination must submit a negative test result or proof of overcoming the disease at entry.

People are considered to be fully vaccinated on the day of the second dose. The exception is vaccination with the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine, which is considered vaccinated 21 days after administration. vaccines.

People with a certificate of infectivity – that is, a vaccination certificate, a negative test or proof of overcoming the disease – no longer need to register electronically on the Austrian government’s website.

The same rules apply from Sunday for visits to Austrian restaurants, hotels and social events.

The peak of the fourth wave

According to Kurier, the fourth wave of the pandemic has probably already reached its preliminary peak. The seven-day incidence of the infection increased to 73.68.

The highest number of infected people per 100,000 inhabitants is reported by Vienna (97), followed by Salzburg (89), Vorarlberg (82) and Tyrol (79), Upper Austria (78), Styria (60), Lower Austria (57), Carinthia (49). ) and Burgenland (41), according to APA.

Another 23 patients with covid were admitted to hospitals, 293 people are currently hospitalized, while 59 people are in intensive care units.

Courier writes that despite the high number of new infections, the vaccination campaign continues to be slow.

60.5 percent of the population (5,403,970 people) received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 56.40 percent of Austrians (5,038,214) were fully vaccinated.
