A huge shock! Samuel Buček gave up the chance to fight for the NHL and signed a contract in the KHL – ŠPORT.SK

today 15:27 | Slovak hockey forward Samuel Buček terminated his contract with the NHL club Seattle Kraken. His new place of work will be the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) participant Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk, with whom he signed a one-year contract. Also read Slovak hockey players in Russia? It’s a sign of ignorance, they can become useful… Buček has had the 2021/2022 season of his life, in which he was the most productive player in the highest Slovak competition with 88 points. He scored 54 goals, which was the second best in league history. He helped Nitre to the playoff final, in which they lost to Slovan Bratislava. Buček had the ambition to start at the World Cup for the first time, but his efforts to participate in the championship were stopped by an injury. Subsequently, he agreed on a contract with Seattle. The Coachella Valley Firebirds, a club of the lower AHL overseas competition, which is Seattle’s farm, reported in July that Buček will be working in its jersey. After the arrival of the 23-year-old winger, there are six Slovak players on the rosters of KHL teams. In addition to Buček, they are goalkeeper Patrik Rybár, defenders Christián Jaroš and Michal Čajkovský, and forwards Adam Liška and Michal Krištof.
