7.2 magnitude earthquake near Haiti, USGS reported

(CNN Spanish) – A 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on Sunday, according to reports from the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The seismic focus was located 10 kilometers deep and the epicenter was located 8 kilometers from Petit Trou de Nippes, Haiti.

There is no tsunami warning so far.

There have been deaths and damage in Haiti after the earthquake, Haitian Civil Protection told CNN.

In January 12, 2010 Haiti suffered a 7.0 magnitude earthquake at a depth of 13 kilometers. An estimated 217,000 people died and more than two million were left homeless.
