Public Health France reported, Tuesday, June 28, a very strong rebound in new cases of Covid-19. New contaminations reached 147,248, or 54% more than a week ago. Tuesday’s figures are generally higher than those of the previous three days due to the closure of laboratories and pharmacies on Sundays, and the time needed to collect data over the weekend. Health authorities had counted 95,000 cases seven days ago and 35,000 cases four weeks ago. The Prime Minister took up several of the recommendations made on Monday by the Minister of Health, Brigitte Bourguignon. “Recommendations”, without “mandatory nature” but which intervene when the incidence rate of the epidemic “has doubled in one week on almost all of the metropolitan territory and in all age groups of the population”, underlined Matignon. Elisabeth Borne therefore called for “amplifying prevention messages”, with instructions to “wash your hands frequently”, “ventilate closed spaces regularly”, “wear a mask in crowded places, closed spaces and in particular public transport during peak periods” and “test yourself at the first symptoms and isolate yourself immediately if positive”. Verification of vaccination schedules The head of government also asked that everyone “check their vaccination schedule”, in particular French people over 60 and the most fragile who “must benefit from the second booster dose”, that is to say say their fourth injection.
