An employee of a Lyon nursery was referred by the Lyon prosecutor’s office on Friday June 24 for her indictment for “intentional homicide of a 15-year-old minor”, after the death, Wednesday, of a baby, indicates Nicolas Jacquet , public prosecutor of Lyon in a press release. The firefighters intervened around 8 a.m. Wednesday in this nursery in the third arrondissement of the city. The 11-month-old girl was unconscious. The child was transported to the Woman Mother Child Hospital (HFME) in Bron (Rhône). She died there “despite the resuscitation attempts made”. The Lyon public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation for manslaughter. The first elements of the investigation support “the hypothesis of ingestion by the child of a toxic product”, specifies Nicolas Jacquet. The only crèche employee present at the time of the events was taken into custody for this count of manslaughter. But “the first hearings of the mis en cause did not make it possible to corroborate the accidental thesis”, indicates the public prosecutor. The police officer finally admitted “that overwhelmed by the child’s crying, she had sprinkled her then made her ingest a caustic product”. His placement in pre-trial detention was requested by the prosecution. “The investigations will have to continue on letters rogatory in order to determine the exact circumstances of these facts and will make it possible to deepen the elements relating to the personality of the defendant”, explains the parquet floor of Lyon.
