The university hospital reported on the deteriorating COVID situation on the social network. The new wave will probably come here again at the end of the summer and manifest itself in the autumn, but according to experts, it should not be nearly as strong as the previous ones. Visits have been banned at UNB since tomorrow “Due to the worsening epidemiological situation at our hospital, we have decided to take action to protect patients and staff from infection. We have issued a decision temporarily banning visits,” UNB said. The ban applies from tomorrow, June 25, 2022, until further notice. Archive VIDEO Lengvarský also commented on the COVID situation of patients and relatives asking the hospital for patience. “We were forced to introduce the measure in order to protect patients and our healthcare professionals. We believe that the situation will soon stabilize and the visit ban will soon be lifted,” the hospital added. New wave, new subvariants While the next wave should not be so strong, experts fear what the new subvariants of omicron BA.4 and BA.5 will cause. These are more contagious and invade the lung tissue, making them as deadly as the original alpha or delta variants. According to experts, vaccination is still the best protection against a severe course. They still recommend following basic hygiene measures and wearing respirators in places where more people are concentrated.
