today 17:25 | After the May Ice Hockey World Championships and the recent NHL Scouting Combine, the final rankings for this year’s draft to overseas profilig are slowly but surely beginning to emerge. Journalist Corey Pronman, who specializes in young hockey brochures, published his latest draft rankings on The Athletic portal on Tuesday, in which not even our greatest talents can be missing. According to Corey Pronman, Canadian center Shane Wright remains in the position of draft unit for the time being, although representatives of the Montreal Canadiens will still intensively consider the possible election of Juraj Slafkovsky or Logan Cooley. Juraj Slafkovský, who is most often associated with the New Jersey Devils team in recent weeks, took the No. 2 place in The Athletic’s latest ranking. The “Devils” already have two young talent centers in their team – Nick Hischier and Jack Hughes. This means that New Jersey would fit a clever wingman into the team, which could complement these two centers. That is why Juraj Slafkovský seems to be an ideal choice for the Devils. According to Corey Pronman, the American Logan Cooley, who plays in the position of the center, should be drafted from the third place. The order in the top three may still be mixed, but Arizona should reach one of the three Shane Wright, Juraj Slafkovský and Logan Cooley from the third position anyway. It only depends on who will be available. According to the latest ranking of The Athletic portal, Juraj Slafkovsky will choose New Jersey from second place. Source: TASR Seattle will be the fourth to be chosen. He should reach for Simon Nemec from Nitra, who would thus become the highest drafted defender in this year’s draft. Although Šimon Nemec is not one of the biggest or fastest defenders, he excels compared to his peers, especially with his extremely high hockey IQ. Thanks to that, it should be drafted very high and the place in the TOP 5 is already almost certain. The fifth place in the pre-design rankings has long belonged to the Czech defender David Jiříček, but in the latest ranking of the portal The Athletic, the American Cutter Gauthier took the fifth place. He has the advantage that he can play both on the wing and in the center, and many scouts even see him in the TOP 3. As the fifth club in the order, he will choose the Philadelphia Flyers, which a clever center would definitely suit. The just-mentioned Czech defender David Jiříček, who could reach the Columbus Blue Jackets, took sixth place. In last year’s draft, the Blue Jackets reached two centers – Kent Johnson and Cole Sillinger. This means that now they would most likely welcome a reinforcement on the defensive, and it is David Jiříček who seems to be the ideal candidate for the “blue coats”. The position in the TOP 10 is then closed by four hockey players – Finn Joakim Kemell, Austrian Marco Kasper, Swede Jonathan Lekkerimäki and Canadian Kevin Korchinski. Corey Pronman compiled a ranking for the entire 1st round of the draft, ie the first 32 players, but unfortunately HK striker Šimon Mešár did not fit into this selection.
