Slovakia would be willing to provide Ukraine with T-72 tanks only if it receives immediate compensation for each tank in the form of a Western-type tank. This follows from the statement of the Minister of Defense Jaroslav Naď (OĽANO) after Wednesday’s government meeting. “We are responding to the offers that are coming. We are looking for a solution that will be helpful for Ukraine, and at the same time will respect the defense needs of the Slovak Republic,” Naď sketched out. According to the Minister, howitzers Zuzana 2, which Slovakia sold to Ukraine, are still on the production line. Production of the first of them is to be terminated in the near future. He did not want to comment on the exact delivery dates to Ukraine. The Minister also praised the government’s approval of a long-term development plan for the Ministry of Defense. “It is another system element in setting up the defense of the Slovak Republic,” he said. According to Nadia, the topic of Wednesday’s security council was mainly the situation in Ukraine.
