Argentina: three Uruguayan tourists die from a landslide that affected a tourist complex in Bariloche

The Public Ministry of Bariloche confirmed that during the early hours of this Wednesday, rescuers found the lifeless bodies of two Uruguayan tourists who were missing after the landslide that fell on the Villa Huinid Bustillo tourist complex on Monday afternoon. Both were found in the room where they were staying and taken to the local morgue for an autopsy, authorities said in a statement. These victims are added to another Uruguayan tourist who died after being trapped inside one of the hotel rooms and who had been found on Tuesday, according to Patricia Díaz, Undersecretary of Civil Protection of Bariloche. The official also said that three other people were injured. A leak of water under some gabions, which were supporting an earthen structure, generated a landslide in that place. It decompressed the entire land area, generating a deep mass slide that reached the Bustillo hotel building. It entered through the windows of the rooms, affecting 3 rooms and the corridor on the first floor,” explained Díaz. The Embassy of Uruguay in Argentina indicated in a statement that it is in contact with the families of the victims, assisting them with everything necessary, and that they will travel to Bariloche to expedite the relevant procedures. The Public Ministry of Bariloche added that “work will continue on all the theories of the case and evidence will be collected to determine the circumstances that led to this fact.”
