The ageless Marína Kráľovičová: She does not want to live like this … I am in favor of euthanasia! – Topky.sk

Mária Kráľovičová was born on June 7, 1927 in the village of Čáry in Záhorie. She was the eldest of five children. When she was 15, she left for work in Bratislava. “There were a lot of us at home in one room, we slept eight – five children, grandma and parents,” said an excellent actress from her difficult childhood. She first started as a barber’s apprentice, then as a saleswoman in a clothing store, and finally worked in a warehouse to dispense paper bales. After the end of the Second World War, she read an advertisement that they were looking for actors and actresses in Slovak theaters. The audition took place in the historic SND building. The young girl also signed up and enchanted one of the founders of Slovak professional theater, actor, director and teacher Andrej Bagar. Mária Kráľovičová began her acting career in August 1945 at the Slovak Chamber Theater in Martin, where she performed two seasons, during which she performed fourteen titles. The criticism received her very well. In the first season, she won the Talent of the Year award in 1946 at the Theater Harvest in Prague for her role in Anička in the Tajsky Women’s Act. After graduating from the conservatory, she played almost all major roles. She was one of the actors of the “solar generation” because, as she said, “they got the word right after the war. We flew into the world, full of enthusiasm, zeal and joy”. The artist from the “sunny generation of actors” was a queen, an intellectual, but also a factory woman on stage. The girl from the village in Záhorie was Ophelia, Juliet, St. John, she played Chekhov’s heroines and Marylin Monroe. However, Sládkovič’s Marina became fatal for her. She is the first Slovak television actress. In 1957, director Ján Roháč cast her, together with Elom Romančík, in the production In Vision, Lucienne !, which actually began a series of legendary television Mondays. Television provided Maria Kráľovičová with many other acting opportunities. She made her film debut as Uľka Bujnová in Bielik’s film The Reservoir (1950), and later starred in Petr Solan’s detective The Man Who Did Not Return (1959), the cult comedy Skalní v offsajde (1960), the psychological drama Ivanov (1963) and in the drama Great Happiness (2006). Mária Kráľovičová became the first reciter to present Slovak poetry on three continents. For example, already in 1958 at the World Expo in Brussels and in 1967 at the Expo in Montreal. She is the holder of many awards and honors, among them the state award of the Council of Ľudovít Štúr I. class (2002) and the Medal of the President of the Slovak Republic (2012). She was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006 as part of the Television Personality Award (OTO). For the last few decades, she has been jealous of how fit she is. “I tell the children – if I should be a helpless fool, get rid of me. I’m for euthanasia, “the actress told the weekly Život when she was eighty. The ageless Marína Kráľovičová: She does not want to live like this … I am in favor of euthanasia!
