US writer Paul Auster’s son blamed his daughter’s death

A 10-month-old girl died of an overdose of a combination of fentanyl and heroin in New York. The New York Times reports it explaining that the girl, Ruby Auster, is the granddaughter of writer Paul Auster. The little girl’s father, Daniel Auster, 44, has been charged with her death, police said. The girl was found unconscious on November 1 in a house on Bergen Street in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and was pronounced dead in hospital. Also according to police reports, quoted by the New York newspaper, the medical examiner’s office subsequently established that she died of “acute intoxication” from drugs. Auster was charged with manslaughter and was taken to the district attorney’s office.
