Ukraine claims that the actual number of fallen Russian soldiers is approaching 20,000. “How could a plan be devised that would kill tens of thousands of their own soldiers in just over a month of war? Who could approve such a plan?” Zelensky asked in the video. He also asked how many dead Russian soldiers would be acceptable to Putin. He estimated it could be from tens to hundreds of thousands. Russia lost more troops in 48 days of fighting in Ukraine than during the decade-long war in Afghanistan in 1979-1989, Zelenskyj noted. He added that some made fun of the Russians, their failures on the battlefield and outdated technology, but not everyone perceives it that way. “We must realize that not all Russian tanks are stuck in the fields, not all enemy soldiers are fleeing the battlefield and not all are conscripts who do not know how to handle weapons,” he warned.
