Covid Israel, infections rise: restrictions and third vaccine dose are being examined

Israeli authorities today confirmed 343 new cases of Coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, the highest number recorded in the last three months, a worsening attributed to the spread of the Delta variant. The total number of infected people since the beginning of the pandemic is 843,123, with 6,428 deaths. According to what emerged from the tests carried out, the Delta variant is responsible for 90% of Covid-19 cases in the country, up from 60% three weeks ago. The situation of the infections will be at the center of a meeting today between Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, and the Minister of Health Nitzan Horowitz, during which the possibility of reintroducing new restrictions will be evaluated. The possibility of administering a third dose of vaccine to risk groups is also being studied to boost the immune system and avoid a greater spread of the disease.
