The number of hospitalizations also increased by almost a fifth during the week. On Thursday, there were 1,967 covid patients in Czech hospitals, compared to 1,664 a week ago.

The numbers of hospitalizations with covid have been declining since the beginning of last December – when there were about 7,000 of them, of which 1,000 were in serious condition – until the end of last week, Czech Radio recalls. However, from Monday they started to rise again. The seven-day incidence rate, ie the number of infected people per 100,000 inhabitants, has also increased from 1,957 the previous day to the current 2,030.

In the Czech Republic, 2,923,680 coronavirus infections and 37,145 related deaths have been confirmed since the beginning of the pandemic.
