The government has approved new measures that will come into force in Wednesday, January 19. They cover operations, mass events, cultural and sporting events. See an overview of basic questions and answers to help you navigate the new rules.

What does the new OP + regime mean?

In addition to the basic modes, OP, OTP, a completely new OP + regime will also apply. This includes fully vaccinated persons who have received a booster dose, ie at least 14 days after the second dose of the booster vaccine plus booster dose, or at least 21 days after the first dose of the booster vaccine plus booster dose. Persons completely vaccinated (2nd dose of a two-dose schedule, 1st dose of a single-dose schedule) who have a negative PCR or LAMP test result not older than 72 hours or an antigen test not older than 48 hours. Persons completely vaccinated (2nd dose of a two-dose schedule, 1st dose of a single-dose schedule) persons under 18 years of age and 2 months of age (ie without a booster dose or without a test).

Persons completely vaccinated (2nd dose of the two-dose schedule, 1st dose of the single-dose schedule) persons who overcame COVID-19 not more than 180 days ago. A person who has a contraindication for vaccination against COVID-19 according to the professional guidelines of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic and is also able to prove a vaccination exemption certificate according to the professional guidelines of the Ministry of Health and negative results of PCR or LAMP test for COVID-19 not older than 72 hours from collection or antigen test not older than 48 hours from collection. Persons from 6 to 12 years and 2 months of age who have a negative PCR or LAMP test result not older than 72 hours or an antigen test not older than 48 hours. Persons under 6 years of age without test.

OP + mode will apply in some operations. This means that only the above-mentioned persons will be able to enter them.

I have two doses and I overcame COVID-19 two months ago. So I’m in OP + mode?

Yes.

I have two doses, but I have not overcome COVID. What do I need to fall into OP + mode?

Booster dose.

I have a 10-year-old unvaccinated child. Does it fall into OP + mode?

Not without a test. If he has a negative PCR or antigen test, then yes.

I have a 14-year-old vaccinated child. Does it fall into OP + mode?

Yes. Completely vaccinated until the age of 18 and 2 months, they do not need a test or a booster dose.

I have a 5-year-old unvaccinated child. Does it fall into OP + mode?

Yes, even without a test.

Has the time to overcome COVID-19 been shortened?

Not. It still applies that the overcoming is valid for 180 days. It is enough to prove the overcoming by a positive test. For children under 12 years of age, confirmation from a pediatrician based on an antigen test is sufficient.

When can I take a booster dose?

After a two-dose vaccine, you may receive a third after three months. If you are vaccinated with a single dose of Janssen, you are entitled to a booster after two months.

Where are the drapes and respirators required?

Respirators are mandatory in every interior and, more recently, in the exterior, if you are less than two meters away from strangers. Respirators are mandatory at both indoor and outdoor mass events. Exceptions are children under 6 years of age and people with autism or hearing impairments.

Which establishments can the unvaccinated go to?

Foodstuffs, food and beverage dispensers (through the window), pharmacies and dispensaries for medical devices, drugstores, newsstands, pet food stores, veterinary dispensaries, mail order sales, parcel machines, towing services and spare parts shops for cars, laundries and dry cleaners, petrol stations, funeral services and crematoria, MOT, taxis, lawyers, notaries, experts, interpreters, collection yards, quarantine accommodation, factory and school canteens, department stores (individual establishments are already in a special regime), establishments where mass events take place which have an exception (funeral), key services, repair and servicing of electronics, clothing and footwear stores, libraries, haberdashery.

Can I stay at a hotel when I am not vaccinated?

If you go there for a business trip or for ski training, they will accommodate you without vaccinations, but with a negative test. However, if you go to the hotel for a private holiday, you cannot be accommodated without a booster dose or two doses and a negative test.

Can I go to the ski lift if I’m not vaccinated?

Yes, but you must have a test.

Can I go to a driving school if I’m not vaccinated?

Yes, but you must have a test.

Establishments and shops

Can I go buy shoes and clothes even if I’m not vaccinated?

Yes. These operations are already open to all.

Can I go to the hairdresser or for a pedicure if I am not vaccinated?

Not. Only vaccinated or overcome can enter human care facilities.

Can I go to a restaurant or have a drink if I’m not vaccinated?

Not. Public catering establishments are only open to the vaccinated and out of reach.

Can we sit at the bar all night?

Not. The operations close at 22.00.

Capacity limits have been lifted for restaurants and can be 100 percent met. Does that mean we can sit at eight on a big table?

No, it is still true that a maximum of four people can sit at one table, resp. members of one household.

When three siblings meet their partners in a restaurant, can they sit at the same table?

We assume that they do not live together in one household, so they cannot sit at the same table.

Will the bookmakers open from Wednesday?

Yes, all shops and establishments will open from Wednesday.

Can I go to the gym if I have two doses of the vaccine?

Not if you don’t have a test. In fitness, the OP + mode applies. This means that you must have a booster dose, or two doses and a negative test. (For the exact conditions of the OP + scheme, see the first question)

Can we have a group workout of ten people?

Yes, if they are all OP +, ie after a booster dose or even with a test.

If my child goes to ski training, he is not vaccinated, but we tested him at home in a self-test, does this test also apply to ski?

Yes, if not older than 48 hours.

Can I go to the spa without a health indication with only two doses?

Not. The OP + regime applies in wellness and spas without a health indication. If we have a spa prescribed by a doctor, you can go there without vaccinations.

Work and school

Do we have to test ourselves at work?

If you are not vaccinated, then yes. Mandatory antigen testing once a week continues to apply. The only exception is people who have a contraindication to vaccination.

Do we have to test children?

Testing of children is not mandatory, but highly recommended. Parents are entitled to free antigen self-tests. Schools continue to operate in person. They close only when there is an infected student or teacher in the team.

Mass events

The events are divided into low, medium and high risk. However, you will not get to a single mass event without vaccinations.

What are low-risk events?

Activities where people have their faces covered by a respirator, people do not eat or drink, do not sing or encourage. During the event, everyone has their own seat. These include non-consumable cinemas, theaters or non-singing services.

Can I go to a low-risk event without vaccinations?

Not. These events are held only for the vaccinated and outdated.

Can there be an unlimited number of vaccinated people at the service?

Not. The capacity is a maximum of 100 people or 50 percent of the capacity. Entry is allowed vaccination and overcoming.

What are medium risk events?

Events where, for example, it is consumed or sung. These are singing services, catering parties, sports competitions with spectators.

Can I go to a football game if I don’t have a booster dose?

Yes. Thus, medium-risk sporting events take place in the OP regime, for the vaccinated and outdated.

Can an unlimited number of vaccinated spectators come to the football stadium?

Not. Capacity at medium-risk events is limited to 25 percent or a maximum of 100 people.

What are high-risk events?

Parties and celebrations in restaurants. They are only open in OP + mode. The organizer is also obliged to keep a list of participants. They are allowed for a maximum of 20 people. These include weddings, kary, discos, parties.

Can there be an unlimited number of people at the disco?

Not. Discos are part of high-risk events, so there can be a maximum of 20 people.

Can I have a wedding reception for 100 guests?

Not. The wedding reception is also a high-risk event. There can be only 20 guests.

How many people can I have at a wedding ceremony or baptism?

Unlimited. The ceremonies are not limited in capacity and are in OTP mode. Only banquets are limited. Funeral ceremonies are in the base mode also without capacity restrictions.

Can unvaccinated children also attend group events for children?

Yes, but they must have a test. Mass events for children are held in OTP mode. There is also a self-test that the child takes at home and is not older than 48 hours.

Can my child go to football training if he is not vaccinated?

Yes, but he must have a negative test.
