The most luxurious off-road car on the planet comes in the fifth generation. It has a minimalist design, multi-energy platform, rear wheel pivoting and for the first time can offer seven seats.

The fifth generation of the aristocratic Range Rover comes after eight years. At the same time, the previous one has not even aged yet. So where to move this car? After all, the Defender drives as well as a luxury SUV, and then there’s the even more comfortable Discovery and, of course, the Range Rover Velar. In Solihulle, however, they did it. The novelty remains true to tradition, but it is literally new “from the floor”. Land Rover’s flagship comes on the MLA-Flex platform, which allows the installation of both combustion and electrified drives and adds the option of a pure battery version, with which the Range Rover will be introduced in 2024. Its flexibility also lies in two wheelbases, while the extended LWB version can have seven seats for the first time.

The design was based on minimalism. Although the Range Rover has a characteristic silhouette with a short front overhang, a long hood, a floating, gently sloping roof that hovers over a dark strip of windows, the surfaces are treated with incredible smoothness, inspired by Velar. The individual parts fit perfectly and the surfaces do not disturb even the door handles. These will only come out when needed. Even decorative moldings are recessed. The result is an air resistance coefficient of Cx 0.30, which is a great value for an SUV or rather a luxury off-road. The mask has been given an effective pattern, the lights of digital LED technology with an afterglow of up to 500 meters and the rear ones are hidden in a black belt, so you can’t actually see them in the deactivated state. The back cover is still horizontally divided, which is very practical.

The basic version has a length of 5,052 mm and a wheelbase of 2,997 mm, which is 53 and 75 mm more, respectively, than before. The long one stretched up to 5,252 mm. An equal two hundred plus millimeters were also added to the wheelbase with a value of 3,197 mm. Not surprisingly, these increases brought even more space in the cabin. And, of course, luxury. The Range Rover beats its siblings with a state-of-the-art PiVi Pro infotainment system with a giant 13.1-inch curved display and voice control via Amazon assistant Alexa. Thanks to it, the driver has control over the entire infotainment system, navigation, contacts in the smartphone or other settings without taking his hands off the steering wheel.

The digital instrument panel and head-up display are a matter of course. Range Rover is also based on selected materials. In addition to genuine leather, however, it also offers natural Kvadrat wool-based upholstery. Clean air on board will be ensured by air conditioning with dual Nanoe X technology, which captures allergens, viruses and particles with a diameter of 2.5 micrometers. Consideration was also given to the comfort of rear passengers, who can have a 13.7-inch center screen in combination with Executive Class seats. And for children, two 11.4-inch entertainment system displays mounted on the backrests of the front seats will come in handy. Silence on board is ensured by an active noise suppression system using speakers built directly into the head restraints, which create a kind of personal silent zone.
