The Davis Cup in Bologna after 46 years, from 13 to 18 September

The Davis Cup by Rakuten returns after 46 years to the city of Bologna and does so in style, hosting one of the four groups of the final phase: a new, great international sporting event in the Emilia-Romagna Sport Valley. The event, writes Federtennis, will take place from 13 to 18 September next at the Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno and will feature four teams: Argentina, Croatia, Italy and Sweden. The return of the oldest world sports competition for national teams to the regional capital coincides with a historic anniversary. In fact, this year marks the centenary of the first participation of the Italian national team: from 19 to 21 June 1922 Italy faced Great Britain on the grass of Roehampton. To celebrate this anniversary, the Italian Tennis Federation has created a special logo, unveiled today in the press conference for the presentation of the final round, held at the headquarters of the Emilia-Romagna Region, in Bologna, which was attended by the President of Fit, Angelo Binaghi, the Head of the Department for Sport of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Michele Sciscioli, the President of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini, the Chief Executive Officer for Tourism and Major Sporting Events of the Municipality of Bologna, Mattia Santori, and the Captain of the Italian Davis Cup national team, Filippo Volandri.
