Europeans, Wembley in orbit with the Italian CosmoSkyMed satellite

The photo was taken a few hours ago from the space of the Wembley stadium, in London, where the highly anticipated final of the European football championships between Italy and England will be played. Telespazio has in fact released the unprecedented image collected by the first Italian Cosmo-SkyMed Second Generation radar satellite. The image was acquired and processed by e-Geos, a company of the Italian Space Agency (20%) and Telespazio (80%). The shot taken by Second Generation Cosmo-SkyMed shows the stadium, inaugurated in 2007 on the ashes of the previous structure of the same name, and the surrounding area – Wembley park – the result of an important urban recovery and today one of the most fashionable districts of the capital British. The entire area is bordered by two railway lines, clearly distinguishable in the radar image. Cosmo-SkyMed of the Second Generation is an Earth observation satellite system of the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and of the Ministry of Defense, a flagship of Italian technology and innovation in the world, created by Leonardo through its joint ventures venture Thales Alenia Space and Telespazio. The first satellite of the new constellation was launched in late 2019 and joined the four first generation satellites launched between 2007 and 2010.
