Quadriplegic dies after hours in the sun, mother stopped

He allegedly left his quadriplegic son in the sun for hours, who then died in the house where he was found. The boy’s mother, suffering from severe mental retardation, was arrested on this charge. It happened in Grammichele (Catania) where the woman, a 45-year-old Romanian ended up in handcuffs. From the cadaveric inspection it would have emerged that the son would have been exposed for a prolonged period to the action of the sun’s rays, “irreconcilable with the place where the body was found”. According to the prosecutor, the young man died at least 26 hours before the discovery and kept with the air conditioning on in the house. The Prosecutor of Caltagirone, who coordinates the investigation, challenges the woman with the aggravating circumstance of her son’s health condition. In the past, the mother had already been reported for neglect of the minor.
