Afghanistan, Mete Onlus solidarity with women

Eugenio Bennato and Mario Incudine in support of Mete Onlus for the commitment to protect forced marriages and child abuse through foreign travel. The meeting took place on the occasion of the “Joe Amoruso Festival” (Castelbuono Jazz Festival circuit, directed by Angelo Butera), staged on August 13 for the concert “Canti Briganti” in Campofelice di Roccella. The memory of Gino Strada is unavoidable at the beginning of the evening, followed by a long applause from the audience, and by all the stars in the sky. “Art is a fundamental tool for spreading humanitarian messages having the ability to reach a heterogeneous target, caressing the emotional part of each individual”. Mario Incudine’s testimony comes straight, tells of what he read as soon as he arrived at the airport in Brazil, some time ago being there on tour. “These are messages with a scary content”: “coming here to sexually abuse children is a crime” (the notice written in Italian shows how customary it is for Italians to leave to sexually abuse). Anvil, he continues: “It is certainly a crime punishable by law, but it is a crime of identity, philosophy and human dignity”. Forced marriages, child brides and the violence caused to women lead us back to what is happening in Afghanistan in these hours, which has returned to being an “Islamic Emirate” proclaimed by the Taliban. Met Onlus, through its President Giorgia Butera manifests “solidarity with Afghan female population, returned to live in the underworld “. “Although the spokesman for the Taliban says that women should not be scared, in the meantime, the faces of women are erased from a beauty salon, they are asked not to go to work, to hide secret places – says Butera – In every city and village the Imams have been ordered to compile the list of unmarried women, they will be immediately made available to the commanders of the various battalions “. “And then, we are rebellious in literature, in professions, in rights, let’s be rebellious for them too. And let’s do it, spreading love. It is culture that scares the growth of the world, education. We never abdicate, ”says Butera. The organization directed by Giorgia Butera, has recently launched “Amore Festival” (in project sharing with Barbara Galli, Founder Talent Up), included in the Permanent Education Program “As far as I’m concerned, I made my Choice ”, which in its itinerant being will take the Association on tour, spreading its values, its commitment and its training in a concrete way, also through art. The contacts of the Association are available online for any type of need or request for help.
