Carabinieri, today 208 years since its foundation

Today, 6 June, the 208th Annual Foundation of the Carabinieri is celebrated. In the morning, Commander General Teo Luzi paid homage to the Fallen by placing a laurel wreath at the Memorial of the Fallen inside the Museo Storico dell’Arma. Following is a visit to the Quirinale where, with a representation of the Carabinieri, including the top management of the General Command and personnel of the various organizations of the weapon, he was received by the President of the Republic. In the afternoon in Rome, inside the ‘Salvo D’Acquisto’ barracks in Tor di Quinto, a ceremony will then take place in the presence of parliamentary and government authorities, exponents of the judiciary, military authorities and the Commander General. The ceremony, which will begin at 18 with the deployment of three training regiments representing all the components of the weapon, provides for the review of the Departments by the Minister of Defense Lorenzo Guerini, the delivery to the War Flag of the Arma dei Carabinieri of the Gold Medal for Civil Merit for the merits acquired in the activity of environmental protection from 1986 to today. Subsequently the ‘Rewards’ will be delivered to the Carabinieri most distinguished in service activities and as usual the ‘Annual Award’ to six Station Commanders who have particularly distinguished themselves in the activity of the institute. After the outflow of the Departments, the Historical Equestrian Carousel will follow, performed by the 4th Carabinieri Regiment on Horseback to commemorate the ‘Charge of Pastrengo’ of 1848.
