Lidl invests 70 million in Sardinia, a warehouse is born on the island

The works have begun and will be completed in 2024: Lidl will have its first warehouse in Sardinia. The facility will support the current 21 supermarkets where around 400 people work. With an investment of 70 million euros by Lidl Italia, the logistics center in the industrial area of Assemini (Metropolitan City of Cagliari) will be operational in two years and will be the twelfth in Italy. An operation that, with the collaboration of local companies, will be able to generate a significant inducement with the creation of 140 new jobs on the island. The structure under construction in the Macchiareddu-Grogastu industrial area will have a covered area of 37 thousand square meters and will be powered 100% by renewable sources thanks to a 1,100 kilowatt photovoltaic panel. The product distribution network will be greatly facilitated by the Assemini logistics center, with a reduction in the environmental impact for the transport of goods. But the presence of the warehouse on the island will facilitate the opening of other stores and the hiring of new staff. The positive repercussions for Sardinia are also underlined by the company. “This important project brings with it a significant implication also for the territory – explains Roberto Eretta, managing director of Lidl Italia Sales -. Many of the companies we are collaborating with for its realization , in fact, they are Sardinians. Thanks to them and to the fruitful collaboration with the Provincial Industrial Consortium of Cagliari Cacip and with the local administration, the works are proceeding rapidly “.
