Tax, revenue boom: in the first 4 months + 10.7% to 148.3 billion

In the months of January-April 2022 the tax revenues ascertained on the basis of the criterion of legal competence amounted to 148.3 billion euros, with an increase of 14.3 billion compared to the same period of the previous year (+ 10.7% ). The Mef communicates this through the tax revenue bulletin. ” The significant increase – explains the ministry – is influenced both by the dragging of the positive effects on revenues that have been determined starting from 2021 ”, and by the ‘release’ of the tax levies suspended during the pandemic and resumed last year. The payment in installments ” may determine revenue effects also over the next few months of 2022 ”. The resumption of verification and control activities brought 4.1 billion euros to the state coffers, an increase of 76.7% (+1.8 billion). Obviously, the comparison with the same period last year ” is not homogeneous as in 2021 the collection activities were suspended until 31 August 2021 ”, the ministry recalls. Gaming revenue also grew, amounting to € 4.8 billion (+1.3 billion, +36.8%). Direct taxes amounted to € 78.5 billion, an increase of € 3 billion. 5 billion euros (+ 4.7%). The income from personal income tax amounted to 67.4 billion euros with an increase of 1,824 million euros (+ 2.8%). Indirect taxes amounted to € 69.8 billion, with an increase of € 10,725 million (+ 18.1%). VAT contributed to the positive trend, with an increase in revenue of 8 billion (+ 21.5%).
