Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in the wallets of more than one in 10 Americans

12% of Americans own bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. It is the result of an investigation that the Federal Reserve conducts every year and which this year was attended by 11,000 people. This is the survey with which the Federal Central Bank monitors the health of the US economy: for the first time this year there were also questions related to cryptocurrencies. In addition to the figure of 12 percent of American adults who said they own bitcoin or other virtual currencies as a form of investment, 3 percent of respondents showed that they also used them as a means of payment.
