Work: Orlando starts ‘consultations’ on wages and contracts, tomorrow round unions

Bills, inflation, commodity price increases; the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is putting a strain on the wages of employees but also on the ability to protect against poverty of national contracts. According to what we learn, this will be the fil rouge that will bind the round of informal ‘consultations’ that the Minister of Labor, Andrea Orlando will start tomorrow with the convening of CGIL, CISL and UIL to the discussion table. The objective is to have a scenario perspective from all the social parties involved; shortly, therefore, other tables will follow. Obviously, the hottest dossier, the one that Orlando has been pursuing for some time, a law on representation but above all a minimum wage by law, will obviously not be missing. An issue made even more urgent by the upcoming EU directive that Italy will soon have to implement. On the other hand, the phenomenon of poor work is a reality: about 13-14% of workers are below the poverty line and the situation will only get worse with the increase in inflation which is expected to be more consistent for the next few months. and that he will add additional burdens to wages. All this on the eve of a round of contract renewals that will be played on the Ipca Index, the index that adjusts wages to the cost of living, replacing planned inflation, but purified from the dynamics of the prices of imported energy goods. Given the times, a node that is central to the trade union-company negotiation tables and which risks setting fire to the social climate of the country.
