Food, global alcoholic beverages market rises to 1,317 billion, worth 14 billion in Italy

It is a full color photo of the world market for alcoholic beverages which, with its five segments – wine, spirits, beer, cider, ready to drink – reaches a value of 1,317 billion euros for an estimated CAG of 5. years (2020-2025) by 5.5%. A rapidly growing sector that is increasingly diversified between in-store and online purchasing solutions. The driving force is beer (42% of the total world market), followed by spirits (35%) and wine (20%). The analysts of the Italian advisor of extraordinary finance operations for startups and SMEs and of the online wine shop also note that Europe, ranking third for growth potential with a CAGR of 6.6%, holds 29% of the market value global, for a total of 349.8 billion euros. For wine, in particular, it is estimated a global value of 245.6 billion euros by 2021, and 305.2 billion euros expected for 2025. With an annual growth rate of 6%, Europe occupies a position significant, following the Middle East, Africa (6.5%) and Latin America (6.1%). A setting in which the individual countries record significant differences, especially as regards the way the beverage is purchased: the range of sales by e-commerce goes from 11.9% in the United Kingdom (up from 10.1% 2015) to 1.7% in Spain and Germany, passing through 9.9% in France (almost doubled since 2019, when it stood at 5.5%) and 9.8% in the Netherlands (in strong rise from 2.5% in 2015). In this sense, Italy is positioned halfway, recording 4% of sales as coming from online shops. The scenario of wine in the Belpaese is particularly encouraging, with a total value for 2021 of 14.2 billion euros (third after France, 20.7 billion, and the United Kingdom, 15.8 billion) and an estimated Cagr of 7.9. % between 2020 and 2025, the highest on the continent. “Confirming these forecasts, 2025 would see Italy recover a position in the ranking, reaching second place after France (5Y-Cagr of 6.1%) and before the United Kingdom (5Y-Cagr of 3.5%)” underlines Marco Meoni, Associate of Growth Capital. “Furthermore, it is precisely the Italian wine market that shows the best state of health out of 2020, with pre-Covid values ​​recoverable as early as 2022.
