The IX Parliamentary Commission (Transport, Posts and Telecommunications) was a guest this morning by the president of the Port System Authority of the Western Sicilian Sea, Pasqualino Monti: a useful meeting to verify the state of the art of the ports of the System and the related needs infrastructural and financial. The delegation was made up of the president Raffaella Paita, and the deputies Paolo Ficara (M5S), Edoardo Rixi (Lega), Davide Gariglio (PD), Giusi Bartolozzi, (FI), Marco Silvestroni (FdI), Francesco Scoma (IV) and Antonio Badger (Mixed). Also present were Rear Admiral Roberto Isidori, maritime director of western Sicily and commander of the Port Authority of Palermo, and Admiral isp. to. Salvatore Gravante, general secretary of the AdSP. After the words of Monti who illustrated the works started by the Authority, some of which have already been completed, the commission personally became aware of the interventions in progress, visiting the main shipyards of the port of Palermo, aboard a patrol boat of the Capitaneria di port. “It is evident in this port – commented the president Raffaella Paita – the ability to create order in the functions: there is the cruise sector in full infrastructural development; there is shipbuilding with the important role of Fincantieri; a relationship with the city has been rebuilt which is by no means a marginal aspect, and then there is the commercial traffic which gives its results. On all these points there are projects in progress or ready to start: it seems to me that all the conditions are in place for a hoped-for leap in quality. I got to know better a reality, in its various facets, which proudly claims the right of this territory to make the leap in quality in terms of modernization and growth, without however renouncing the original vocations that now have a greater capacity for development. composed and more ordered also from the planning point of view. On the other hand, we try to respond with more streamlined rules, avoiding excess bureaucracy and speeding up the realization of the works. It is significant that President Monti has been appointed commissioner for important port works: over 300 million interventions are no small thing ”. “Having the Transport Commission with us – said Monti – is an important signal that demonstrates the commitment of the government, through parliament, towards us and the trust placed in our work. Our commitment is to build a credible project, able to bring out the enormous unexpressed potential of the airports that make up this Authority, and to channel the necessary resources. It is no coincidence that, in addition to the 155 million earmarked for the relaunch of shipbuilding in the port of Palermo and the construction of the port-city interface system – works for which I was appointed commissioner by President Mario Draghi – a further 195 million arrived from the Pnrr for cold ironing – the process that allows the shutdown of naval engines during mooring in port, without however reducing the energy supply required by it – in all four ports of the System, Palermo, Termini Imerese, Trapani and Porto Empedocle; for the consolidation, in Palermo, of the southern quays of the Piave and Santa Lucia piers and the static adaptation of the Vittorio Veneto quay; for the consolidation of the breakwater at Acquasanta and the completion of the breakwater in the port of Arenella. In Trapani, on the other hand, the funds are intended for dredging of the outer harbor and the areas to the west of the protruding Ronciglio. “This Authority closed the year of the pandemic with a budget of 25 million euros, the private companies operating in the port have hired workers, demonstrating that when the real economy is produced, stable employment is also created. our ports on the road to European development with productive investments, reforms, business culture, sinking its roots in the attitude to do. More: to do well “, concluded Monti.
