American actor Alec Baldwin trained to draw a revolver during a rehearsal during the filming of the film Rust last week and aimed it at the camera when the shot was fired. That’s according to court records, which, according to BBC News, include testimonies from director Joel Souz and cinematographer Reid Russell. However, the weapon, which served as a prop, contained a sharp charge, and Baldwin shot 42-year-old cameraman Halyna Hutchins and wounded 48-year-old director Souz.

“Joel then vaguely remembers her (Hutchins) complaining of her stomach,” the records said. Then she started to stumble and someone helped her lie down on the ground. According to cameraman Russell, who was next to her, she complained that she could not feel her legs. The cameraman died after being transported to the hospital. The wounded director was later released by medics from the hospital.

Asked how Baldwin handled firearms while filming, Russell said he was very careful. He mentioned a case where an actor made sure that there was no child actor next to him when he was shot.
