The PirSTAN coalition attacked the election results, asking for one more mandate – SME.sk

PRAGUE. The Czech State Electoral Commission incorrectly calculated the results of the elections to the Chamber of Deputies, according to the Pirates / STAN coalition (PirStan), which challenged the final number of seats in court and demands one more seat. “We have filed a motion to declare the election of candidates invalid. We are convinced that the election commission interpreted the rules of the electoral law in such a way that instead of correcting the results of the distribution of seats in the 1st ballot, the differences in the 2nd ballot deepened. Our calculation (is) YES 71, PirSTAN 38, “wrote the vice-president of the Mayors and Independents (STAN) movement, Věslav Michalik.

The official election results allocated 72 seats to the YES movement and the PirSTAN 37 coalition.

According to PirStan, the election commission did not act in accordance with the new electoral law

The Coalition of Pirates and the STAN Movement now demands that Miloň Slabý (STAN) from the Vysočina region sit in the lower house of parliament instead of MP Ondřej Babka (ANO).

“The State Electoral Commission is responsible for the recalculation of seats. In our opinion, it did not act in accordance with the new electoral law,” Michalik explained.

The PirSTAN coalition claims that the election commission erred in recalculating the seats in the so-called second incarceration. Instead of individual regions, the commission should have taken into account the national results in the second turnover, argues PirSTAN.

According to PirSTAN calculations, MP Ondřej Babka (YES) should be replaced by Miloň Slabý (STAN).

In addition, the order would change for the SPD candidates – Karel Maříková (SPD) and Jaroslav Dvořák (SPD) in the Chamber of Deputies would be replaced by Petra Svedíková Vávrová (SPD) and Pavel Jelínek (SPD). At the same time, the order of the alternates would change.

The new law brought even less proportionality

The elections to the Chamber of Deputies were significantly influenced by the decision Of the Constitutional Court, which changed the system of calculation of seats in the winter, recall the List of Reports.

Although the new system was supposed to bring more proportionality to the recalculation of seats, it is less proportional in these elections than if it had been calculated after the old one, the List of Reports analyzes. For example, the YES movement won one seat more (72) than the TOTAL coalition (71), although it won fewer votes.

The complaint must be decided by the Supreme Administrative Court. Both coalition parties are represented in court by Stanislav Polčák, MEP and vice-president of the STAN movement.
