A fire declared in a building in downtown Montauban, mobilized part of the night the firefighters of the city of Ingres. It was almost midnight this Saturday, October 23 when the fire probably broke out in a chimney flue of this three-storey building at the intersection of Théophile-Delcassé, Saint-Jean and Place Guibert streets overlooking the Pont des Consuls.

Fortunately, the four people staying there were able to be evacuated in time. No injuries were reported, and none of the four residents was hospitalized for smoke inhalations.

Faced with the scale of the disaster and the risk of propagation to common roofs, Lieutenant Brune, the group leader of the intervention, called on the large scale to contain the fire that had set the roof ablaze. In the dead of night, the numbers climb to nearly twenty firefighters. At around 4 a.m. this morning, the fire seemed to be finally under control. Finally the respite of the rescuers is short-lived, fumaroles on the beams suggest that the blaze may still resume.

In the early morning, the firefighters put their device back in place while the municipal police condemned access to traffic before the Pont des Consuls and rue Delcassé in order to let the firefighters work. As for the origin of the fire, it would be, for the time being, of accidental origin, the fire would have taken in one of the chimneys of the building. Access to the streets for motorists and two-wheelers should be restored at the end of the morning.
