Storm Aurore in the Loiret: more than 170 interventions by firefighters, 8,300 households deprived of electricity and disrupted SNCF traffic – La République du Center

The power cuts were caused by falling branches and trees on power lines. The Enedis crisis unit has been activated, the prefecture said in a press release. Network restoration operations are in progress.

These gusts, measured at more than 100 km / h in places, caused trees to fall from electric poles. At 7:30 a.m. firefighters counted more than 170 interventions across the department for this type of incident, 35 of which were still ongoing.

The operational fire and rescue center (Codis) received the first calls Wednesday 20 October around 10:30 p.m.. Usually, the Codis counts around thirty interventions, on average, each night.

Cut roads

The fall of many trees and electricity poles caused disruptions on several roads in the department. Among the axes concerned:

• the RD 114 in Sury-aux-Bois due to the fall of electric poles; a detour has been set up (via the RD 9 and RD 44),
• the RD 961 (between PR 3 and 5); only a half-floor is concerned, agents intervened to remove a tree that had fallen,
• and the RD 921 in Sully-la-Chapelle, where power lines fell. Shortly before 10 am, the diagnosis was in progress in order to decide on the measures to be implemented (neutralization of a lane or closure of the section).

SNCF traffic resumes

Furthermore, SNCF traffic was interrupted on the Paris Austerlitz-Orléans line due to falling trees on the tracks. Several trains have been canceled. At around 7.15 am, the SNCF indicated that the incident was “now over” and that traffic would “gradually resume”.

The Paris Bercy-Nevers axis is however still disrupted. At 7 a.m., trains were stationary in Gien and Cosne-sur-Loire.

The RER D is also disrupted: it is not running this morning between Malesherbes and Corbeil-Essonnes. A recovery is estimated at 10 hours.

While three departments are still in orange vigilance, Météo France had placed the Loiret in yellow vigilance “violent wind” this night. The episode ended this morning but the winds will remain sustained in the Loiret all day (50 to 60 km / h).
