MUSIC COMPOSER DIED: The art scene lost the VELIKAN of opera and chamber music – Hudba.sk

BRATISLAVA – At the age of 77, music composer and organizer of musical life Hanuš Domanský died on Tuesday in Bratislava. For many years until 2005 he was the editor and later also the editor-in-chief of the symphony, opera and chamber music of the Slovak Radio RTVS. The editor and publicist of Slovak Radio, Martin Jurčo, informed about it.

Hanuš Domanský was born on March 1, 1944 in Nový Hrozenkov. He studied composition at the Conservatory in Brno, and later in Bratislava at the Academy of Performing Arts under Dezider Kardoš. All his life he worked in the field of music and music culture as a deputy head of the concert department of the art agency Slovkoncert. He was also the chairman of the composers’ section of the Association of Slovak Composers, the chairman of the committee of the Slovak Music Fund, the deputy editor-in-chief of the main editorial office of the Czechoslovak Radio in Bratislava, and the chairman of the international radio competition Prix Musical de Radio Brno.

He has received several awards for his authorial work. “Hanuš Domanský is one of the composers entering Slovak musical life in the 1970s, characterized by a departure from the avant-garde sources of so-called new music and an interest in creating classics of European music of the first half of the 20th century.
