It seems that Slovak hockey really shines for a better future after many years of suffering. The first flash was the prestigious Hlinka Gretzky Cup tournament in August, where the under-18 national team sensationally reached the finals.

Among others, the participants of this year’s Junior and Senior World Championships, Šimon Nemec and Juraj Slafkovský, and Filip Mešár, who presented himself only at the first mentioned championship, also showed their qualities on it.

While the defender of Nitra and the striker of the Finnish TPS Turku are considered in the eyes of experts and the public to be certain participants in the 1st round of next year’s selection of newcomers, the latter was more or less at the interface of the second or third round before this season.

However, after a great introduction to the year 2021/2022, the initial forecasts are changing for the better. After nine duels in the account, Mešár already has five points for four accurate hits and one assistance. By comparison, last season he needed up to 36 matches for this number of goals.

Although he does not appear in the renkings of the prestigious journalists Craig Button and Bob McKenzie from the Canadian television TSN, it should be noted that both were still ranking in September, just before or during the start of the Slovak Tipos Extraliga. In addition, McKenzie offered menoslov only 16 players.

On the other hand, in front of the mentioned pair, the ranking was also published by the respected expert Scott Wheeler from the specialized website The Athletic, who rated Mešár in the 30th position, ie in the first round of the draft.

In nine renkings, created in October, Mešár was in the top 32 up to eight times, ie in the opening round.

Mešár himself is, of course, very happy that he is doing well. According to him, the reason is simple. “I played a total of 51 matches last season, so I had plenty of room to get used to men’s hockey. I have more ice-team, on average 17-18 minutes, the coaches put me on overtime and weakenings, “says a native of Spišská Belá.

He, he admitted, focused mainly on two things over the summer. “In preparation, I focused especially on shooting and improving physical strength. Since I am lower, I still have to work on reinforcement, “said the universal, who can take on both the wing and the position of the center.

Mešár, as he stated especially for tvnoviny.sk., Is watching these preliminary renkings with one eye. “I’m communicating with the agent about it, but I’m not solving it in any way, as nowhere am I guaranteed to go through the draft at all. I have it in my hands and I will do it all. There is still quite a lot of time for the draft, “said the great talent of Slovak hockey, which attracts the attention of scouts.

Representatives of several NHL organizations go to watch him live. According to our information, representatives of Arizona, Calgary, but also Washington and Tampa have recently seen it with their own eyes. Mešár himself knows about it. “I haven’t met any of them in person. However, we talk to the agent about it, he gives me their reports, how I liked them in the given meeting, “he explained.

After each match, the scouts give details of what they liked and what, on the contrary, they need to improve. “They highlight my thinking on ice and skating. They also talk about my fights in a positive light, “said a great talent from under the Tatras, who has already gone through one draft.

He was chosen by the Kitchener Rangers from the Ontario Hockey League as part of the CHL draft in the junior leagues. Given that Meshar is doing well among men, it is understandable that they would like to welcome him to Canada.
