HN findings: Nitra Jaguar under the pressure of the chip crisis. As soon as it has started, it is stopping production again – HNonline.sk

The peak of the chip crisis continues. The engine of the Slovak economy is suffocating and producers have to constantly struggle with logistics. It seems that the fight for the parts was figuratively lost again by the Nitra production of luxury SUVs Land Rover Discovery and Defender. After recent problems, he will stand, this time for more than a week.

According to HN, the reason is the lack of key components, especially semiconductors. The shutdown should last from next Monday, and a restart is expected the following week on Tuesday after All Saints’ Day.

At the same time, production experienced a similar halt last week. “At the Nitra plant, we are discontinuing operations in production technologies from October 11 to 15,” confirmed last week for HN corporate relations manager Miroslava Remenárová. The factory has not yet commented on the latest problems.

Thousands of people will stay at home

The Jaguar, of course, is far from the only one facing the global crisis. Stellantis from Trnava was the first in Slovakia in the spring of this year due to a lack of chips, followed by Volkswagen shortly afterwards. The Nitra factory resisted for a long time. However, that changed at the turn of May and June, when the race was shut down for nine days. Subsequently, production started, but even then the situation in the company was not easy.
