For all those who remember Czechoslovak television from the times of socialism, entertaining programs called Six Wounds to a Hat or Two from One City will certainly be remembered. They both had one thing in common – the moderator star Pavel Lukeš, who left on the same day as Slovak opera star Edita Gruberová.

His wife’s death was worse for him than cancer

In the past, Lukeš fought with the same type of cancer as the legendary singer Karel Gott († 80), ie a lymph node tumor. He only found out about it during the operation, which was still risky due to his previous heart attacks. “When they opened me, they found it inoperable.” quoted Lukeš in the past server super.cz.

The moderator eventually recovered from cancer thanks to chemotherapy, but another severe blow came to his life in 2015, when his wife Hana, whose heart failure, died after 48 years of relationship. “It was worse than cancer,” stated.
