A plane crashed outside of Houston and all the passengers survived

(CNN) – A Boston-bound plane carrying more than 20 people crashed into a fence and burst into flames as it took off at Houston Executive Airport on Tuesday morning. No serious injuries were reported, authorities said.

All passengers and crew managed to safely leave the plane, two with minor injuries, before firefighters extinguished the flames engulfing the McDonnell Douglas MD-87 in a field outside the airport, local authorities said.

“This is a good day. Actually, it is a day of celebration for many people,” said the spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, Sgt. Stephen Woodard, to reporters at the scene.

One person reported back pain, Waller County Judge Trey Duhon said via Facebook.

“The information we have at this time indicates that the plane did not reach altitude at the end of the runway and crossed Morton Road, stopping in the field just north of the airport, where it caught fire,” the judge said.

Another person reported breathing problems, Woodard said. Both were transferred to a hospital, but later returned to the airport.

The MD-87 “rolled through a fence and caught fire in a field” just after 10 AM while attempting to depart, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement.

The plane traveled about 152 meters before the crash, Woodard said.

In addition, he detailed that there were 18 passengers, two pilots and an assistant on board. He had previously said that there were 22 people on the plane.

The youngest passenger was 10 years old, according to Sgt. The fire has already extinguished, Woodard said.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will be investigating, with the NTSB as lead agency.

Tim Gibson, director of Waller Harris’ 200 Emergency Services District, said all the passengers had managed to “get out by themselves” and crews assisted them from the field where the plane crashed.
