Europe is starving for energy. However, Moscow is sending less gas again, prices have skyrocketed – HNonline.sk

It started in the summer and escalates further. Russia is restricting natural gas supplies to Europe in an apparent effort to prefer the opening of transit at the bottom of the Baltic across the new Nord Stream 2 line.

Prices in response break records. At the beginning of June, after a hard winter, the stock exchanges were at the level of 30 euros per megawatt-hour, which was twice as much as last year. When the Russian Gazprom subsequently did not make full use of the pipelines to the old continent and the storage tanks were filled very lightly before the heating season, the commodity broke through 100 euros. And although President Vladimir Putin has promised that if the demand comes, the market will stabilize, again the opposite is happening.

On Monday, November, the largest gas exporter reserved only about a third of the additional capacity for transport to Europe via Poland. In addition, through Ukraine he did not apply any volumes.

The closely watched results of the auction thus brought further uncertainty as to how the continent would survive the coming cold months.
