Kocurkovo in the Russian way: Kovalchuk as general manager? Forget it, Mr. Coach – Športky.sk

MOSCOW – Representatives of the Russian Hockey Federation did not agree with the appointment of Ilya Kovaľčuk as general manager of the national team at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. He was named NHL Player Relationship Manager.

National team coach Alexej Žamnov informed about the appointment of GM at a press conference on Monday. “The FHR management did not agree with the appointment of Kovaľčuk as general manager. Žamnov can choose his assistants, but he has no right to appoint a general manager. Only the federation can do that.” introduced the portal sportrbc.ru.

The chaos also accompanied the process of appointing a new coach for the Russian national hockey team, Alexei Zamnov. The former striker confirmed on Monday that he had agreed with representatives of the Russian hockey federation on a contract until the end of the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.

After Valeriy Bragin, the union originally wanted to replace former choir coach Oleg Znarok on the vacated chair, but at the end of September the RHF expert council recommended that 51-year-old Žamnov become the new helmsman.
