Disturbing missives. A couple of teachers from a Marseille college received a letter of death threats on Saturday October 16, the Marseille prosecutor’s office announced on Monday October 18. These threats came on the day of the national homage to the teacher throughout France. The prosecution has opened an investigation, entrusted to the southern division of the Urban Security Brigade, and lthe couple lodged a complaint, according to the rectorate, cited by France 3 Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

This couple of teachers had already received a photo of Samuel Paty and a letter of death threats during the month of September, reports the prosecution. These facts were brought to the attention of the police and the case was monitored by the southern division of the departmental public security directorate (DDSP).

“The investigation is ongoing and at this stage there is no evidence to link these facts to a course given by one of the teachers”, adds the Marseille prosecutor’s office. “A safety device has been put in place by the police services”, he specifies.

This is not the first time that teachers have received death threats.
