Gasoline 95 is about 25 percent more expensive than last year and gasoline 98 is 22 percent more expensive. Diesel is also more expensive than a year ago, by up to 32 percent.

Rising prices at Slovak filling stations should continue. “Based on the development of the oil market in the previous weeks, we expect that the prices at our pumps will go up in the coming weeks,” an analyst at 365th Bank Jana Glasová told SITA.

After the previous stagnation, petrol prices at our pumps returned to growth. In the 40th week of this year, the prices of 95-octane gasoline rose by 1.4 percent to an average level of 1.449 euros per liter and the prices of 98-octane gasoline by 1 percent to the level of 1.644 euros per liter. Diesel prices rose the most, by 1.8 percent to 1.326 euros per liter.

During the summer, oil prices remained at lower levels, but at the end of August they headed up again and this growing trend continues more or less to this day. Last week, black gold ranged from 83 to nearly $ 85 per barrel. According to the analyst, the oil is currently being pushed up mainly by the OPEC + decision that in November they will proceed according to the original plan and increase their production only gradually. At the same time, customers are pushing for the cartel to increase production more significantly and thus dampen the sharp rise in market prices.

“In addition, rising oil prices are being hit by a sharp rise in gas prices, forcing some companies to switch to oil and increasing demand for it. On the contrary, concerns about the growing number of those infected with the new delta variant are holding back oil prices, ”Glasová said.
